Waking up this morning at 6.30 am my first thoughts were of Harriet and Lesley on their way to Great Ormond Street Hospital. I knew the ambulance was due to pick them up from The Royal Derby City Hospital at approximately 7.00am for their long drive to London with the team that would be looking after Harriet. I had expected that as I left for work at 8.00am they would have been well on their way.....wrong! ---They weren’t actually picked up until 9.30. My concentration was virtually nil throughout the morning as a waited for an update from Jason..that came at 1.30pm to say that the team had arrived at the hospital and I was shocked she had travelled all that way in a car seat in the back of the ambulance rather than be kept lying down...oh what could have been worse for that poor little might..she was suctioned constantly throughout the journey.
Great Ormond Street did say that on her return journey she would be sent home lying down. Jason said Lesley was overwhelmed by the hospital itself..how busy and swift they were to action immediate attention to Harriet and they remarked when they saw her how her chest cavity seemed unusual. Coming to the close of the day they informed Lesley that after viewing the MRI Scan results sent from the Queens medical Centre Nottingham it would be planned the following day to scan Harriet’s heart. I felt relieved that at last one of the most renowned Hospitals in the world would now join forces with our current hospitals in Derby and Nottingham to try and put together the vital pieces to this jigsaw......Tomorrow is another day..............
